Description

This double pilot-operated hydraulic check valve forms a locking block for double-acting cylinders. Choose 1/4″, 3/8″ or 1/2″ BSP for the supply and cylinder ports. Each version has its own flow, maximum pressure and cracking pressure ratings.

Note the difference between versions: SPH390201 (1/4″) and SPH390203 (3/8″) have a maximum pressure of 380 bar. SPH390202 (1/2″) is rated to a maximum of 360 bar.

How the pilot-operated check valves work

The block contains two pilot-operated check valves. Oil can flow from the supply to the cylinder. Return flow from the cylinder is blocked until pilot pressure opens the relevant check valve. This allows both sides of a double-acting hydraulic cylinder to be locked.

This is a locking function. The valve does not independently control the lowering speed of a load. Check that its operation and connection diagram suit your hydraulic system.

The stated BSP size applies to C1, C2, V1 and V2. Cracking pressure is the pressure at which the check valve opens in the free-flow direction; it is not the pilot pressure required to release a loaded cylinder.

Connections and installation

Connect the supply lines to V1 and V2 and the cylinder lines to C1 and C2, following the hydraulic diagram. Before installation, check connection sizes, available space, system pressure and required oil flow. Depressurise the system and keep lines and connections clean.

This version has BSP threaded ports. Suitable fittings are required to connect hydraulic tube. Do not select by connection size alone: pressure, flow and cracking pressure must also suit your application.
